A Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) is a member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors, and must meet a high standard of counselling training and abide by the BCACC Code of Ethics. Many extended health plans do cover the services from a Registered Clinical Counsellor, but not all. You’ll have to check with them and ask specifically. If so, then you can take your receipt from our sessions and submit it to your provider for reimbursement.

Yes, what we work on in counselling sessions is kept absolutely confidential, with some important exceptions. As a counsellor, I may be legally and/or ethically obligated to break confidentiality in the following situations:
- If I get subpoenaed by a court of law, then I must comply
- If I believe that you or another person are at serious risk of harm, then I must take reasonable action to ensure safety
- If I learn about child abuse or neglect, then I will inform the Ministry of Children and Family Development
- If you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol and insisting on operating a motor vehicle, then I will inform the RCMP to help keep the roads safe
I work with many clients for whom spirituality, faith, or religion is an important aspect of their life. Some of these clients find it helpful to address issues related to spiritual or religious life, or to incorporate spirituality or faith into their counselling process as a personal resource, and I’m glad to do so. I always leave it up to the client to decide if this would be helpful for them. Speaking personally, spirituality and faith are important aspects of my life, and I have several years of experience working with individuals and families in a Christian faith community.
